A media playback device according to claim 15 wherein the playlist is a recursive playlist including a hierarchy of sub-lists in which each sub-list is associated with a parent media document at the next higher level of the hierarchy, and the playlist display of the media playback device includes a hierarchical playlist display in which each sub-list is visually associated with its corresponding parent media document in the form of a collapsible list.
