A computer program for predicting the remaining operational life of a component, said computer program configured to:

generate a plurality of component data samples utilizing a machinery monitoring system (114) including a database having at least one rule set (400), the component data samples indicative of at least one operational parameter of the component;

trend the component data samples utilizing the rule set; and

extrapolate (416) the trended data to facilitate predicting the remaining operational life of the component.
