Regarding Claim 32 Trend analysis in systems management is not new. IBM Tivoli System Automation for z/OS was doing trend analysis for JES2 spool usage so it could make the operators aware of the potential severity of the situation (would it hit 100% or would it not), back around 1994.

Now, looking at claims 28+, I suspect that this may be the pending patent for this piece of potential prior art - http://www-01.ibm.com/software/tivoli/products/service-level-advisor/, which might give a better idea about what it's doing.

Mik,
The link you posted is non-functioning. Can you repost the link or detail a way to find the info? Thanks.

Hmmm. The web site is picking up the following comma and making it a part of the URL.

This reads a lot like it was written by someone who doesn't have English as a first language. How much are we meant to try and read between the lines to interpret what they actually mean? (As opposed to what is actually written - which appears to be void of content and/or grammatically incorrect in some places.)
