I thought I would post a brief summary of the application as I understand it, to kick off some discussion.

Basically, this invention refers to a display that comprises of a number of strands. Each strand has a number of wave outputs at different positions along the strands. A light driver at the top of each strand then directs light through the input end, leaving the final product as a shimmering curtain of sorts that can be used as a display.

The claim also covers similar displays where the wave input is an optical fibre, or a diffusing acrylic bead. The application does not however, describe how the light is to be emitted from the various wave outputs along the strand.

The key benefit of such a display lies in the width of the screen created – it is very, very thin. It is said to support both static and moving images. The strands can either be fixed or movable, depending on the user’s preferences.
