A method for content information sharing between devices in communication with each other in a peer-to-peer network, comprising the steps of:
a first device receiving a request for information describing content stored at the first device from at least a second device via the peer-to-peer network, said request includes capability information of the second device;
said first device retrieving the information describing the content stored at the first device;
said first device filtering the retrieved information according to the capability information of the second device; and
said first device sending the filtered information to the second device.
